The title is deceiving – because the Delaplaine is not only perfect for a lower budget wedding – but it’s versatility and elegance lends itself to be the perfect location for any wedding.  It’s a blank slate that can be dressed up or down – and it will be an exceptional wedding venue that will impress you and your guests a like.

Take a look.

L’Enfant Plaza held an amazing bridal show a few weeks ago, and I wanted to share the pictures (and video) with you.  One thing I loved about this show, is that they showed you different things you could do with the space – from simple to extravagant.

The staff is really super, and Kristi, the Catering Sales Manager is a doll.

Check out the awesome eye candy!

Washington DC in March is one of the most beautiful places. New life abound – the cherry blossoms blooming – a first hand view of Washington DC’s most stunning monuments. With the floor to ceiling atrium windows, I cannot imagine a more beautiful wedding reception than treating your guests to a front row view of Washington DC -while cruising around the Potomac. This is exactly what this couple treated their 150 guests to – a night of enchantment.

This wonderful couple, brought together by fate, came from two entirely different backgrounds – hers Korean – and his American, but both totally in love. They combined their love to treat their guests to a multicultural affair that both they and their guests will forever remember. Adorned in a beautiful designer gown and him in a tux, they renewed their vows in high fashion-while docked in Washington DC’s SE side, known for its great harbor and even better seafood. After the ceremony, the ship “set sail” to a cruise of magnificent proportions.

After an abundant cocktail hour of heavy Hors D’oeuvres and drink, guests were able to order of menus and feasted on a 3 course meal fit for kings/queens! While eating, the Bride and Groom partook in many traditional wedding rituals; such as, the First dance and parent dances. After dinner, the 5 piece band opened the floor to all guests!

The Bride and Groom cut their simple 3 tiered cake, and quickly went to change for the traditional Korean bowing ceremony. Guests were treated to an elegant Chocolate Foutain, with a variety of fresh fruit and sweets as an accompaniment to the delicous yellow wedding cake.

Dressed in traditional Hanbok, the Bride and Groom made their way from table to table and bowed, offering thanks and respect to all of their guests. After the bowing ceremony, the Bride and Groom cut the traditional Korean Rice Cake, which we distributed with traditional Korean desserts as guests exited the vessel.

The night seemed to end as soon as it started. The simple set up lead to a magnificent evening full of light, love, Washington DC sites, but more importantly a memorable occasion for all!

So rarely do you meet a couple who are wholly dedicated to their life’s passions. From the moment I met with them, they were very clear on the fact that they wanted a magnificent wedding that not only they, but more importantly, that their family and friends could enjoy. Because of the dedication to their work, they did not have the time or energy to plan the wedding themselves. They were looking for someone who could incorporate their love, create their vision, and bring it to a reality. Both the Bride and Groom were from the continent of Africa, and it was important for them to have a western wedding with an African flair. After producing an elaborate proposal, I immersed myself in planning an intimate affair with the sole purpose to entertain the Bride and Groom’s loved ones – all of whom will have flown around the world to celebrate this union. The venue had to be unique, opulent, distinguished, discerning, open, and light filled – and it was clear to me that there is only one Baltimore venue that would fit their needs. The Walters – a beautiful museum situated in picturesque Mount Vernon, provided all of this and more in one complete package.

Orchids abound, I used bold colors to create the backdrop to this simple yet stately affair. The Bride wore a simple silk satin gown. Simple orange Mokara orchid blooms were placed elegantly in her hair – creating a simple but unique headpiece. The custom arbor, made with a sheer ivory fabric – gathered and tied at both ends with a cluster of red hypericum berries and orange orchids hanging in the background – provided the focal point for the traditional Catholic ceremony, and later housed the sweetheart table during the reception. The Bride and Groom chairs were marked with simple wreathes made from vivid yellow button mums, tied with an orange coordinating ribbon.

While guests took pictures and enjoyed signature cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres among Greek and medieval art, the ceremony was transformed into an elegant reception. Two long rectangular tables, covered with yellow overlays and finished with tall and short centerpieces of submerged orange Mokara orchids, and white Manzanita branches, provided seating for 85 guests. Each place setting was finished off with an orange folded napkin containing a custom-printed menu card – on which the Bride described her and her new Groom’s relation to each invited guest – and a single red gloriosa lily.

The food was made up of two bountiful displays of American and African fare. The, 3 tiered, 3 flavor cake was accompanied by fresh fruit, chocolate covered strawberries and an assortment of African delicacies.

Upon exiting this spectacular affair, guests were treated to a monogrammed bag containing a silk fan, personalized mints, couture Godiva chocolates, a shot glass and a customized bookmark.

Every detail was carefully considered – down to the custom designed monogram which was placed on the menu cards, bar cards, programs, cake and favors.

Many couples want to stay away from hotels because they feel that they are not
customizable, they are ordinary locations, and they would just be 1 of 3 weddings happening in the same location.

Not true. Hotels are a wise choice for a number of reasons, and I want to share with you an amazing location that is right at our back door. The Pooks Hill Marriott, located in Bethesda is just minutes from the Beltway. It offers charm, tradition and elegance in one complete package.

With a dance floor, this property can accommodate up to 300 guests in two separated and stylized ballrooms. Each ballroom is located on separate and private wings, offering you and your guests’ private hallways and bathrooms so there is no need to worry about intermingling with others! No traveling required – with the cocktail hour just right across the hall from the ballrooms, or perhaps dress up the hallway; it makes it easy to have an onsite ceremony, offering your guests an all in one option.

Customize your menu to accompany the style and theme of your reception. The staff at the Pooks Hill Marriott is flexible and will allow you to bring in your own catering if you want to celebrate your ethnicity through food. They have worked closely with caterers specializing in Persian, Indian and African cuisine, just to name a few.

The hotel also offers wonderful upgraded amenities for the Bride and Groom. Book the Presidential suite and get pampered – in the comfort and style that you deserve. Located on the 16th floor, and overlooking beautiful Bethesda, the presidential suite includes a flat screen TV, couches, wet bar with microwave, and a private patio. Reserving the 2 connecting rooms offers Bridesmaids or Mothers an opportunity to stay close to the pre-wedding festivities.

Are you dreaming of outdoor and indoor possibilities, and still want the convenience of a hotel? This property has it all. A beautiful gazebo provides a dramatic backdrop for pictures. With a small upgrade, treat your guests to cocktails poolside, or cover the pool for added space and have an elegant candlelight ceremony. The possibilities are limitless.

To close a beautiful wedding night, each couple is treated to a luxurious wedding night suite, containing comfy chairs and couches, a flat screen TV, a large opulent bathroom and private sleeping quarters, separated with 2 large French doors.

Elegance abound with ballrooms adorned with giant chandeliers, an elegantly designed lobby, professional and knowledgeable staff, and the convenience of planning your entire event, from the meet and greet to the after wedding brunch, the Pooks Hill Marriott is the choice for a truly choosy Bride!

Place: Walters Art Gallery – Mt. Vernon Subdivision of Downtown Baltimore

Service: Non-denominational
Guests: 150

They met while at orchestra practice. He plays the violin and she plays the cello. When they decided to marry, they wanted to host this marvelous affair at one of the most picturesque venues in downtown Baltimore. Their short ceremony took place in the front gallery amongst stone columns and astute statues. As guests looked on, they heard just the faint whispers of a trickle from a fountain that served as the backdrop to the ceremony. While guests were upstairs enjoying cocktails among millions of dollars of Italian artwork, we were downstairs transforming the center gallery from ceremony to reception. The large burgundy centerpieces containing ginger swept the high ceilings, and the finishing touches on the lighting were made. Guests came down a grand-staircase to enjoy a lavish 5 course meal, while sharing in a slide show that was put together by the Bride and Groom’s good friend. Instead of a wedding cake being the center of the room, the Bride and Groom opted to do away with the traditional and bring in the pies, peach and apple to be exact, made by the renowned chef who catered the event. The pies were a hit; the guests flocked to them in awe! Dancing closed this truly elegant event.

Just an hour’s drive from the cobblestone streets of Boston houses – Castle Hill on the Crane Estate. It’s undoubtedly one of the most beautiful wedding sites that I have had the pleasure of working. Perched above the beautiful Crane beach, this site offers a dramatic setting for weddings. Its beautiful gardens, magnificent landscape, grandiose great house, seaside location, and picturesque views along the half mile Grand Allee make it a perfect location for your wedding.

Your guests will be welcomed by the foyer, which leads into the Gallery – a perfect location for a small reception. If you need additional seating, you can add a tent over the side terrace. The rotunda is perfect for the cake cutting, the dining room for an indoor ceremony, and the ballroom for dancing late into the evening. The golden hues, period archways and Grand stair case provide the backdrop for a sophisticated event.
This site also offers it all. Give your wedding party a hardy New England Welcome at Steep Hill Beach, by offering crabs, oysters and lobsters.
Because this site can comfortably accommodate up to 320 with an added tent, this is truly the perfect destination. Your guests will be t

reated to New England at its finest. Just a short and very beautiful drive from Salem Massachusetts, a mecca of museums and landmarks. A bit beyond- Massachusetts’ capital, Boston, is rich in tradition and is a great place to shop, eat, and tour. Ipswich, the heart of the North Shore, is a meticulously preserved seaport offering a variety of activities including museums, performing arts, whale watching, great shopping and superior dining.
