What’s more eco-friendly?  Accent your day with a gorgeous gown from the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s or 60’s!

Awesome!

If you want a vintage gown, The Cherished Bride can help you.  They also carry vintage albums and invitations to complete the look.

What a beautiful 1950’s style  – and so luxurious – made out of silk organza.

Nice!

This dress was all the rage on Friday.  The most anticipated wedding gown of the century – fashion insiders and press said alike.  Of course I had to let it sink in before I chimed in.

By the time I woke on Friday morning, the ceremony was long over.  I just wanted to see the dress and bits and pieces of the wedding – being a wedding planner and extremely curious.  When I read that Vera Wang said the dress was not fashion forward and something she expected Kate to wear, and having not seen the dress, I immediately knew it was stunning.  I needed to see it.

WOW!  Bravo to Kate!  That dress was absolutely gorgeous.  In my opinion it was everything “bridal” – modesty, beauty, simplicity.  It wasn’t weighed down in a bunch of fabric.  It was nice and light, clean lines – and spectacularly gorgeous.  30 years later, when I look at Diana’s gown, I wince.  No offense, but yuck.  When I look at Kate’s dress 30 years later, it’s going to be the sight of exquisite beauty.  It is so classic, which is what we are about at Elegant Event Planning and Design – classic beauty.  Despite all the hype – and a world watching – Kate created a wedding about her and William’s love for each other.

Bravo.

Plus, I think the last thing this world needed, was millions upon millions of Brides draping themselves in loads of nasty polyester and tulle – trying to copy a princess.

I have never been an obsessive person.  I typically don’t fall in love with trends.  I am a pretty classic and down to earth person.

I like earth tones.

However, when I was introduced to the Canadian designer, Adele Wechsler – I was smitten.  I couldn’t help myself.  The smooth and elegant silk, the simplicity…the lines.

It was all over.

Take a look at this stunning beauty.

I love Zara.  Look at those ivory bands along the bodice.  So simple – but so stunning.  That gown looks so soft with that organza.  I just love silk.

Ho hum.

Can I have one of those, just to wear around?

:)

So pretty.

Every little step towards contributing positively to the environment – or enhancing someone else’s life – makes a huge difference.  Just imagine if every couple took one small step.  Magic!

I would say that I’m a relatively sentimental person.  I have my Mom’s Tussie Mussie she carried at my wedding.  My wedding gown is still in a box – in the basement – collecting dust.  However, despite being in a deep dark place – having not seen the light of day in 8 years – I still cannot bring myself to give it away.  Okay, I’m not saying that wedding gown donation is for everyone – but for some, it may be an option.

It’s the gown you wore on one of the most important days of your life.  By donating it, you are giving another Bride an opportunity to have their dream gown – on the most important day of their life.  By not leaving it in your basement, under your bed, or in your garage, you will be helping a multitude of people.  First, you are helping yourself, you are helping another Bride, and most importantly, you will be helping to improve the life of someone else.

Check this out.

Brides Against Breast Cancer

Check out the website for more information about the gown donation program.  The website tells you exactly how to donate one of your most treasured possessions.  Make sure to check the website prior to donating.  Right now, they are not accepting vintage gowns due to an overstock, but that will change.  Brides Against Breast Cancer accepts donations from individuals, manufactures, and dress shops.  Proceeds from each sale goes to granting wishes to families dealing with terminal breast cancer – where there are no cures – only dreams realized.
