I really wanted to post these two weeks ago when they came out – but I dropped the ball.

Ugh.

Well, I think the information is still relevant – and they are interesting reads.  Also, I always love supporting the Blade, so here they are!

Finding wedding attire is so difficult for Lesbian couples. Going into a men’s shop and buying a suit is difficult. The woman’s body is made differently and many shops are not attuned to fitting women.

So today I am talking to the mature bride, Bride marrying for the second or third time, the lesbian couple, or anyone who does not necessarily want to wear a dress or wedding gown, but wants to maintain a look of soft femininity. A beautiful suit – paired with just a flower gracing the hair, or a fabulous cage veil – creates a very sophisticated and feminine look. I’m going to show a lot of white suits, but the suit doesn’t necessarily have to be white.

Enjoy!

Many of my couples are opting for custom suits as well.

Suits are from Neimen Marcus, Bon Ton, Dillards, Grand Pointe, Midnight Velvet

Utterly ridiculous, but I think it’s important to look at other views.

Check out this interesting article that was written in the most current issue of the Blade.

The Reason for Marriage is Procreation?  Really?

My thought process is not at all complicated.  It’s pretty darn right simple in fact.  I don’t think it’s difficult to follow what I’m saying.  I try to pretty much come out and say things.  I wear my heart on my sleeve.

I love weddings.  There is not secret about that.

What are weddings about?

To me, they are about celebrating the love that two people share.  Two people who want to spend their entire life together – forsaking all others – and why shouldn’t that be celebrated?  Does it matter whether it’s between two women, two men, or a man and a women?  Hell no – because the feelings are the same.  I’ve seen it first hand – and it’s beautiful.

Love is love.

I found a very interesting article on CNN.com that I wanted to share with all of you.

When I read these articles, I’m never sure of them.  They never said how many times they did the poll, how many people were polled, who was polled (demographics), etc.  However, I do think the generalizations are good.  Generally, more people than last year are supporting same sex marriage.  I think this is important for the LGBT community.

Actually, I’m not sure why anybody really cares.  I have worked with many same sex couples and they are just as loving and wonderful to work with as my heterosexual couples.  That’s a good thing, no?  Starting a family with the ones you love is what it’s all about.

Of course, for every positive article on the subject, I am sure that there are 5 articles supporting the other view.  There always is – but that’s okay too.

For whatever it’s worth, take a look at what I found on CNN.com

Opportunities – that’s what it’s all about!

LaWanda and Page are two women from the heart of Tennessee.  They had a dream – for LaWanda 30 years in the making – and they made it happen.

They first contacted us in March – and never returned my call.  Then one day in late May – I got a text saying that they could not do it.  :)   Who knew I was going to be taken on the adventure of my life?  I’m so lucky.  With very little money – LaWanda and Page decided to travel to DC to make their dream a reality.  They hired us to take care of all the logistical details.  We answered questions, responded to their needs, found and booked a venue, hired a photographer, helped with scheduling and travel.  You know what?  It’s hard getting around DC if you are unfamiliar with the layout.

From the first time I met them, I knew they were special.  LaWanda had been married 3 times – and remained unhappy for decades.  Her last husband loved her so much, that he put her feelings into words – brought her out of the closet – and the rest is history.

LaWanda spent the whole day readying herself for her special moment.  The colors were yellow blue and red – for Page who was a lover of Donald Duck.  She sewed beads on her dress and placed colored rings in her bouquet.

The ceremony took place at the WWI Memorial – the significance to Page was astounding.  After the ceremony, they took pictures on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to cheers or joy and congratulations from onlookers.

It was so cool.

Just looking at the video warms my heart.

:)

LaWanda and Page said that they would like me to share their video and pictures with the world.  They felt it was important to share their love with all of you because they felt that DC was making incredible strides towards equality.

So here world (or the small part of the world that reads this blog) is Denise (everyone calls her by her last name – Page)  and LaWanda’s magical day (edited).

This is what Washington DC is about.  These two women!

Congratulations LaWanda and Page!
