I need a drink to calm my weary nerves.

Ugh.

Something sweet would be nice – sort of like candy.

Here’s a standard recipe

1-6 Oz can of limeade juice

6 fluid ounces of Tequila (Patron Silver)

2 fluid ounces of triple sec

If you want yours frozen, fill the blender with crushed ice, limeade, tequila and triple sec.  Blend until smooth.

If you are like me, and you really need it now – can’t wait.  Check out where the Washingtonian says to find the best Margarita’s around DC.

Most likely, I will be around one of these places tonight – tomorrow – or both.

I never would advocate drowning your nerves in alcohol, but sometimes – it must be done!

Burp!

Can you believe it’s the end of August?

Time goes by so fast when you’re having fun, doesn’t it?

School is in.  Summer is over – so to speak.  Technically, no – but in my mind it is!  I am looking forward to cool weather :)

Now, it’s time to start thinking about fall weddings.  Delicious.  Check out this fun fall drink.

Caramel Apple Martini

  • 2 parts Schnapps, butterscotch

What a cute way to present multiple signature drinks.  This way, the traditional wedding punch will not be drab and boring – but will be extraordinary.  Sometimes the same old thing – presented in a different way – can impress even the most discerning guest.

Traditional Wedding Punch

  • 2 cups Vodka
  • 4 cups unsweetened Pineapple Juice
  • 4 cups unsweetened Cranberry Juice
  • 64 ounces of Ginger Ale
  • 2 cups sugar

Pour all ingredients into a large bowl/container with plenty of ice.  Pour into a pitcher and garnish as necessary for presentation.

Happy mixing!

Pretty and pastel.  Perfect for weddings!

Sweet and sparkly, no?

Starlight Royale

2.25 cups squeezed lime juice (1.5 oz/ shaker) plus more for rims

1.5 cups Gin (2 oz/shaker)

0.5 cups of superfine sugar (2 tsp/shaker)

1 bottle of Brut Champagne (or sparkling wine) (4 oz/shaker)

Sanding sugar for rim

Grenadine for pink hue

Mix lime juice, Gin and super fine sugar and chill until ready to serve (2 + hours).

To serve dip glasses in lime juice and sanding sugar to create 1 inch thick coat.  Add champagne to shaker filled with ice.  Add 3.5 oz of gin mixture.  Strain into 2 glasses.  Add 2-3 drops of grenadine to each.

I’m not much of a scotch drinker, but if I’m going to take a taste, it better be good.

So, I went on a search for drinks containing Johnnie Walker Black Scotch Whisky.

Check out this monster

Four Horesemen of the Apocalypse

1/2 oz Johnnie Walker Black label Scotch Whisky
1/2 oz Jose Cuervo Especial Gold Tequila
1/2 oz Jack Daniels Old No. 7 Tennessee Whisky
1/2 oz Jim Beam Bourbon Whisky
1/2 oz Jagermeister herbal liqueur
1 oz Pineapple Juice
2 oz Sweet and sour mix
Pour all liqueurs into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice. Shake until frosted. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice cubes and add pineapple juice and sweet and sour. Stir, and serve.

What fun!

WOW, this drink will “Light you Up”!

Even though the drink is NOT good for a wedding,  Johnnie Walker works well on a classy bar!  YAHHHOOO!

I’m intrigued by this drink for two reasons.  First, I absolutely adore flowers and small details – and I am totally in love with the orchid on the side of the glass.  So pretty and so unique.  Second, I wonder how they keep the orchid on the side of the glass.  A clip?

Hhmmmmm?

Anywho, what a great drink for a tropical inspired wedding.  It’s fun – and so fresh.

Here’s how you create this tantalizing cocktail

  • 1 ounce(s) Cîroc Vodka
  • 1 1/2 ounce(s) pomegranate juice
  • 1 teaspoon(s) elderflower liqueur
  • 1  splash champagne
  • 1  orchid blossom

Stir all the ingredients (minus the champagne) over ice, strain and pour in a pre-chilled cocktail glass

Top off with a splash of champagne and garnish with a Sonya Orchid (or another food grade, edible flower)

Go ahead and try it at home.  It’s the kind of homework I love to do!

Happy trying!

The fourth of July is the perfect excuse for creating a fabulous theme wedding.  If you do it right – wow!

What do you think of when you think of the 4th of July?  For me it’s fireworks.  What’s better than “FREE” fireworks that you and your guests can enjoy – you can get some awesome shots – and you don’t have to pay for them!

Ha!

The booze!  The 4th of July means “PARTY”.  There is nothing better than good fireworks and good booze!  So, for you patriotic boozers out there, here are a few red, white and blue selections for your festive – but elegant – 4th of July wedding/party.

The Bastille (red, white, and blue!)
1 Shot of Blue CuraÁao

1 Shot of Cointreau
1 Shot of Grenadine

Build the layers in a short cocktail glass. (Hint: pour the liquid over the back of a spoon as you add them to the glass to help layer.) Serve and enjoy.

Snow White Cooler (white)

There’s really nothing innocent about this concoction, but the result is a frothy o

ff-white cocktail sure to please.

2 shots of Bailey’s Irish Cream
1 Shot of Blended Whisky
Add liquor and ice to a cocktail shaker. Cover, shake well, then strain into a cocktail glass. May serve over ice, if desired, especially in particularly warm weather.

Cape Cod Breeze (red)

Hob-nob with the in crowd while sipping this bright drink on the seashore.

1 shot of Vodka
Cranberry juice
Add ice and vodka to a tall cocktail glass. Add cranberry juice, stir, and enjoy.

For a fun, bubbly twist, add equal parts cranberry juice and seltzer instead of straight cranberry juice.

Stars and Stripes (red, white, and blue!)

It doesn’t get any more patriotic than this- you’ll wow your guests with the colorful layers!
1 shot of Grenadine
1 shot of Blue CuraÁao
1 shot of Light Cream

Build the layers in a short cocktail glass.

Alaska Ice Tea (blue)
½ Shot of Gin
½ Shot of Vodka
½ Shot of White Rum
½ Shot of Cointreau
½ Shot of Blue CuraÁao
7UP or Sprite

In a tall cocktail glass half filled with ice, layer each shot in order listed. Top off with soda and enjoy!

Hint for those drinks that are red, white and blue: pour the liquid over the back of a spoon as you add them to the glass to help layer. Serve and enjoy.

Happy partying!

I’ve tasted this one first hand – and YUM!  It’s absolutely perfect for a summer wedding – especially one taking place outdoors.

Of course, you should coordinate your drink with your wedding colors!  Check out this very HOT drink – which is perfect for a little something blue!

Here’s how it’s made

1 1/2 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Blue Curacao
2 oz. Sweet and Sour Mix
7-Up or Sprite
Lemon Slice
Add a Maraschino Cherry for color

Substitute that Vodka for some Rum – and you are in signature drink heaven!
