WOW, it’s really been forever. I took a much needed break from the stresses of daily blogging. Don’t know if you know – but it’s a lot of work.

Whew!

When I first started my blog, I read blogs of people who were very successful bloggers. They said, if you don’t feel inspired, don’t blog. As much as I love weddings and working with Brides and Grooms, I wasn’t motivated. Since I heeded the word of people more successful than I – I just didn’t blog.

Strange thing, I missed it.

So, here I am catching up for the 3 days I missed.

How do I combine a wedding tip, style and eco friendly?

A Ha!

The Father of the Bride created this arch using wood on his farm. He conditioned and bent every single piece of wood. This arch is 100 percent nature! This Bride and Groom were absolutely lovely.

No matter what you have or don’t have – stay true to yourselves. If you do that, your wedding will shine! After all, the purpose of a wedding is to celebrate the love between two people.

Stylish Tuesday – The Elegance of Candlelight

I love candlelight. It’s so romantic, and does so much for a room. It’s beautiful with flowers or alone.

Take a look…

The candles should be within the style and theme of your wedding. You don’t want your centerpieces to appear thrown together.

Use interesting holders of different colors and textures.

I have tried to use examples where the flame is covered in glass. Where can you use an open flame these days? At home? Not many places will allow and open flame.

Eco Friendly Wednesday – Eco Friendly Centerpieces

This year, Valentines Day has been a wealth of inspiration for me – for practical and nice ideas. Yesterday’s inspiration came from a homemade valentines dinners of fajitas, homemade guacamole, and delicious frozen ritas!

Today’s inspiration was from a gorgeous Orchid plant that my hubby gave me for Valentines day. Orchids are gorgeous and so elegant. What a lovely centerpiece that your guests could take home and take care of for years to come.

Ehm. Excuse the cell phone picture. My hubby took the camera with him this morning. You have to make due with what you have, no?

At any rate, take out all the pink frilly stuff that comes with valentines day – place the plant in a beautiful ceramic ornamental vase and you have one hell of a centerpiece that someone can grow and enjoy.

Plus, they are EASY! Give it some indirect light, water it once a week, add liquid fertilizer once a month and re-pot every two years.

How’s that for reducing waste?

Now, before you decide to undertake this, remember your guests and where they are coming from. If a bulk are from out of the country – maybe it’s not such a good idea!

Stylish Tuesday – No Seats for Some

There are many advantages to having a home wedding – many which I have reviewed on this blog. When you are having a home wedding, sometimes you have to adapt to the space limitations. I’m not talking about budget weddings – as I think I’ve already established that having a home wedding is not a viable way to save money. I’m talking about using space effectively to create the party that you envision.

If you have a larger guest list, or a smaller yard, you may have to come up with alternatives – other than the normal “seat 10 guests per round table” – kwim? You might have to finagle to make it work.

One viable option may be not to seat everyone. It works really well, but everything must work around it – the food, the activities. Actually, it makes for a very nice party. People mingle and talk, rather than just sticking there butts in a seat for 2 hours – kwim?

It has to be well planned, but for a classy lunch or dinner “A Fresco”, it’s a dream.

Using a mix between the rounds and the highs works. My personal fav, cocktail sized tables. I designed a wedding that happened this weekend, and it worked out beautifully.

Light green and Celadon are two of my favorite colors. Why? They can be used alone or as accents to many different colors and the look and feel is so elegant, light and airy. You can use it with blue, pink, chocolate, just to name few.

I just love green.

We are all about simple here.

Simple – not cheap.

There is a difference. Simple can be very very expensive. It depends how you do it. It’s a look and feel throughout the entire event. We wholeheartedly believe in high quality. We like well thought out -and well put together. These are two qualities that are essential for an elegant wedding – in my humble opinion.

In the end, it’s not price that matters, but the result.

When I find something that’s truly simple and elegant, of course I must post it here.

Stylish Tuesday – Simple Ivory

My style is pretty simple – or rather clean. Minimalistic maybe. Timeless definitely.

I meet with couples and they say they want simple. To me, they are saying inexpensive. In my mind, simple and inexpensive are not synonymous. Inexpensive means inexpensive. Simple means that everything that’s present – is done nicely and placed with purpose.

Two totally different things.

Simple – now that’s my forte.

Have you ever sat down and thought about the pure genius of ivory? Ivory as the main color, Ivory as the accent? Ivory on ivory.

I could have fun with that!

The simple beauty of it all!

I’m not saying that it could be pulled off in any space. On the contrary, it couldn’t. But when it’s done well.
